Dua Before Sleeping
اللَّهُمَّ بِاسْمِكَ أَمُوتُ وَأَحْيَا
O Allah! With Your name I die and I live.
Importance: It’s the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) as it protects the soul, helps in peaceful sleep, enhances one’s faith. It’s a trust in Allah, by making this dua Muslims acknowledge how life and death is in control of Allah.
Dua After Waking Up
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ
All the honor is owed to Allah, who has given us a consciousness after taking it away and to Him is our raising (on the day of judgement).
Importance: Again it’s a sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him), reciting this dua right after waking up is an expression of gratitude to Allah for blessing another day. It sets the tone for day, as it brings barkah in daily activities.
